Featured: Heather and Josh’s Rockport Wedding

The air was summer-warm and the sky was a beautiful, clear blue on the day Heather and Josh got married in Rockport.  Driving along the coastal route, I thought of all the friends and family that were making their way to the Rockport Art Association in Bearskin Neck, and I remembered how excited Heather and Josh were to have reserved that location for their day. When I met them the first time, we were sitting around my dining room table and my first impression was that they were gracious and giving — and definitely in love. I also remember that they were very keen on making their wedding a party for their friends and family to enjoy. As I was speeding along under green overhanging tree limbs and smelling the Rockport saltwater, I had a feeling it was going to be a special day.

Heather’s bridesmaids were gathered around her, getting ready in an open-air courtyard at Lighthouse Lane Cottages when I arrived.  They all greeted me so warmly, and while Heather was getting a few finishing touches, a couple bridesmaids went out of their way to help me hang Heather’s dress and arrange flowers and other details for photographs.

Heather and Josh both wore TOMS all day. Such a cute detail.

Man, what a beautiful bride…

After photographing the ladies, I made my way to the Rockport Art Association and got a few photographs of Josh waiting for his bride.  The ceremony took place in a small gallery that was completely filled up with friends and family.  Heather and Josh were surrounded by their guests (and art!)  in the most lovely, intimate way.

After the ceremony was finished, the bridal party poured out of the Art Association, and Heather and Josh shared a few lovely moments together on the sidewalk on Main Street — in a world all their own surrounded by dozens of their friends and family and countless passersby.

The bridal party walked down Main Street to the Granite Pier for formal pictures.  The first portrait was of Heather and Josh — their first formal portrait as husband and wife. A magical moment.

The first dance!

As the night continued, everyone was on their feet, dancing and celebrating together.  I don’t think Heather and Josh ever left the dance floor — or had anything but smiles on their faces.  And when the DJ announced the last song, all I remember is the extra surge of happiness and the movement of people on the dance floor who wanted to celebrate that night, and who wanted to send Heather and Josh off with as much love as they could.  What a gift.
