I had never been to the Newbury Bonfire, and I’m so glad I went this year. Sure, it was cold and windy. Once the sun went down, you were thankful for the many layers of clothing you had on. Or you danced to the DJ like nobody was watching to keep the blood pumping. Or you joined the masses of people circled around the large bonfire. It was fun to see old friends and make some new ones — and to celebrate so much, including our community, our New England winters, and the hard work of the Newbury Fire Department. The food smelled so good wafting from all over the vendor area. There were ice carvers, and games, and demonstrations, and artists selling their art, and most notably, a beautiful bonfire. Magical, really.
I’ve included a few of my favorite bonfire photos here. To see more, click through to a larger gallery of images at http://abbphoto.zenfolio.com/bonfire2014. For those of you interested in purchasing prints from the event, you can do that through the gallery. Or just be in touch with me and I’ll walk you through it.
Big kudos to the volunteers and event organizers. You know who you are.
